Reminder of Safety Issues

Here's a good discussion of the safety issues with the 14ers (and other summits) in Colorado. 10 people died on 14ers in 2017, 5 of them on Capitol Peak.

Dear Bob,

Many thanks for the posting, and especially for the video of progress along Capitol Peak's knife edge. I was always curious about it, having
enjoyed climbing some of the easier 14-ers between 1958 and 2009, and am now satisfied that it was out of my league.

Hi Bob,
Timely post as the 14er event is fast approaching!  I'll add some reinforcement that one should know the route up and down the mountain you intend to do.  Case in point.....when I did Square Top Mtn last month I passed two women coming back down the mountain.  They were a bit surprised when I told them they had just done Square Top as they thought they were on Bierstadt!  I pointed out Bierstadt to them which was 180 deg in the opposite direction across the valley........
